Personality: Despite his position as team tank in the Young Avengers, Teddy Altman tends to be the more level-headed, easying going one of the group. He's also extremely polite and minds his manners despite his Hulk-like appearance. That isn't to say that he's afraid to use his strength or never gets angry. When pushed, Teddy can have a downright terrifying temper. He just isn't one to fly off the handle in day-to-day life and generally, it takes a lot to push him over the edge.

More than just being easygoing, Teddy is also a deeply caring individual. He won't hesitate to take cae of those around him, even if it comes at a cost to himself. Whether the care he offers is acting as a meat shield for his friends in battle or as emotional support, Teddy is happy to do it. But because he does tend to be more concerned with othes, his own feelings and trauma often get pushed aside or bottled up. Sometimes, this does cause explosions to happen where he lets everything flood out, but it takes quite a bit to get him to this point.

Although he looks like the typical high school jock, and in some ways he very much is, Teddy is also a giant nerd underneath the muscle and love of sports. He likes video games, comics, and spending his time editing stuff on the superhero wikipedia. He idolizes other super heroes and isn't generally ashamed to admit to it.

One thing to note is that Teddy struggles with confidence at times. Back in high school, Teddy was desperate to fit in and feel normal. It's all he wanted. Eventually, he used his shapeshifting abilities to make his appearance more like the popular guys, and used his abilities to impress one in particular, Greg. It meant he used his shapeshifting to provide access to clubs or big events by impersonating the likes of Johnny Storm and Tony Stark. Eventually, when it came to looting the Avengers mansion, Teddy decided that wasn't the type of man he wanted to be and was tired of being used by so-called friends. He went on to grow into his own and joined the Young Avengers.

His team and just generally being a superhero changed his life around entirely, in large part thanks to meeting Billy Kaplan. Seeing Billy being unapologetically himself seems to inspire Teddy to do the same. Teddy is openly in a relationship with Billy and will protect him at all costs, having given his complete loyalty to Billy first and then his team. His faith in Billy rarely ever seems to falter, even after watching his magic misfire and put people into a coma, seeing him wish someone dead, or even when the Avengers thought of him as a potential risk. The only time Teddy's faith does waver is when Loki meddles and puts the idea in that maybe Teddy is a bit too unbelievable to be real or that Billy may, at the very least, be coercing him to love him.

Feeling like he doesn't have a choice in matters is about the only thing that can ever make Teddy doubt things or make him want to rebel against whatever may be taking his choices away. Teddy has turned down leading the Kree and Skrulls, ignored his title of prince, and even insisted on being a hero at 16, and Teddy is fine with all of it because it's stuff he's decided on.

That said, despite all nice outward appearances and concern for others, Teddy has many issues from seeing his mom burn alive in front of him, to learning that he's an actual alien, that he's a prince, to being tortured. He's seen war and watched friends die. He's said tht he feels alone in the world and in certain moments, there seems to be a fair bit of resentment and bitterness over his situation. It pops up every now and then, even if he tries to push down whatever frustration or pent-up hurt he has, and he can't quite deny that he's not over being an orphan with no real home or family.

Another weakness is that, despite being level-headed, he can still have his moments of rash decisions or run head-long into situations if it means he might save others. He has jumped in between warring aliens without so much of a thought to his own safety. This, and other stuations, show that he doesn't always have the highest regard for his own safety.

To sum it all up, Teddy is a good-natured guy who just wants to help people, but he could definitely stand to take care of himself a little more and work on issues he wants to keep private way too often.

Powers/skills: Teddy, being the child of a Kree and Skrull, has a blend of special powers inherited from both race. These include:

- Superhuman strength. Teddy is much stronger than any average human or Kree. The extent isn't known, but he can lift an impressive amount.
- Superhuman Durability and Stamina. Teddy's skin is denser than a human, giving him great resistance to pain or injury. He can withstand most impacts or blasts with little to no injury. Bullets and blades also can't pierce his skin. He has stamina that's greater than any regular human and doesn't require as much sleep or time to recuperate.
- Shapeshifting. Probably his strongest ability and his most used. He normally changes himself into a green form that, while reminiscent of the Hulk, is a blend of his Skrull heritage. He can also change into others, having been shown to take on the appearance of Billy Kaplan, Tony Stark, and Johnny Storm, among others. He can also grow claws and wings to aid him in the heat of battle. On top of this, his body can shift to protect vital organs without even his knowledge or will, as shown by his time being vivisected by the Warden.
- Regenerative Healing and Resistance to Toxins. Teddy can't be affected by pheromones or poisons. He's also immune to many diseases that may harm humans. He can recover from almost any injury that is inflicted on him and likely regenerate any limbs he loses.
